Athlone Cooling Towers Demolish on Sunday 22 August, N2 Will be Closed

N2 WILL BE CLOSED FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME!!

Please note the City of Cape Town project below, i.e. demolition to Athlone cooling towers. This will impact on passenger arrivals into the airport as the N2 will be closed for about 2-3 hours.

We will be part of the overall project plan and will share details close to the time. In the meantime, please manage information to passengers booking for this day for flights in and around the affected time slot.

N2 Cape Town Closed on 22nd August 2010 from 12:00 onwards

The most likely day for the implosion of the Athlone Cooling Towers is the 22nd of August 2010 at 12h00. This is a Sunday and is the most suitable time that will not disrupt rail transport. The N2 road will be closed an hour before the time and an hour after the implosion, depending on the effects of the implosion. This will obviously have some effect on traffic movements to the Airport on the day and consequent delay in passengers reaching the airport on time for their flights.
