Fiona Coyne (Weakest Link) Funeral Held in the Helderberg Today

A Requiem Mass was held today for actress and TV quizmaster Fiona Coyne.

Coyne committed suicide at her Fish Hoek home in Cape Town last week. The service was held at the St Peter's Catholic Church in Strand where her niece, Celeste Coles, will deliver the eulogy.

"In the days following the death of a loved one, one is kept so busy with funeral arrangements, which means that you cope as best you can, while simultaneously trying to process the shock and the grief and everyone deals with it in their own way, but Fi's family and friends are totally and completely devastated," said Coyne's friend and family spokesman Kee-Leen Irvine.

The family have asked anyone wishing to make a donation to make it to Christel House, which operates learning centres in impoverished areas, or the Helderberg Animal Welfare Society.

Coyne loved animals - so much so that in her suicide note she made sure that her beloved pets would be taken care of.

Her ex-husband, Willie Fritz, told The Times: "She asked me to take care of the dogs. Their names are Tamu and Malaika, Tamu is Kiswahili for sweet and Malaika is Kiswahili for angel. The names come from the time we lived in Kenya in the early 90s."Fritz said he was still very "sad". He said he had not seen Coyne for some time.

Coyne will be cremated.
