Heather Waters - News

Hi There!

It has been a very busy time here, working on the new album which is due to be released towards the end of this year.

I've named it -  HEATHER WATERS. THE CAMPERVAN COLLECTIVE, Volume 1.

An eclectic collection of Heather Waters folk songs- with a rock edge.

As I travel alot with the music, I have often had to pull from a resource of musicians, roadies and photographers etc, who have, over the time, come to know my songs, style and vision, and support me wholeheartedly on my travels..  Since the beginning of my touring, I have built up a reliable collective of fantastic musicians (and reliable extras) who, according to their availability, have performed and toured with me over the years, without whom I could not have developed and refined my songwriting, performance and artistic individuality to this point - and without whom I could not have remained relatively 'sane' during the process :)

"The Campervan Collective consists of everyone involved in the Heather Waters experience ie: The musicians who have toured and performed in SA with her since 2008. It’s the collective awareness and involvement that makes the Heather Waters experience what it is.  Heather Waters and the Campervan Collective are planning to capture the first volume of this unforgettable experience and like most previous Heather Waters projects, this will be done in an unconventional, fun and passionate way."

In today’s easy accessible high tech world and South Africa’s fast growing music industry, the trend to use all the latest technology in the
recording process often results in extremely clinical sounding recordings or manufactured music.  Inspired by these notions, we aim to get back to the roots and show what can be done by using the minimal - and practicing the traditional.

Merging old school with the new school, we have developed a sure recording process that captures the warmth and essence of the songs - using innovative and inventive recording methods.
We have found an amazing studio location in Gordon’s Bay, perfect for the sound and feel that I want to achieve.  Farmyard Studio's have just built their new studio on their beautifully landscaped small holding, tucked away, at the foot of Hottentots Holland Mountain Range.    In between sessions, we can enjoy the avery, koi fish pond, and soak in the diversity of plants and animals around us!    This relaxed, peaceful environment is truly adding to the project!

Between studio recordings in SEPTEMBER, we will be performing in the following towns and venues:

10 September        BOTRIVER                        The Botriviera Hotel - Celebrating Botriviera Spring Festival   3pm - 5pm

16 September        KNYSNA                            Friday night at QUAY FOUR on Thesen Island 7h30pm-10h30pm

(there will be helicopters, firemen and their trucks, and lots of games and festivities for all ages!)
