Calendar Girls
by Tim Firth and directed by Wendy Goddard for Claremont Dramatic Societyand coming to the Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society The true story of an ordinary group of Yorkshire women doing something extraordinary sparking a global phenomenon when they persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference - they're nude. They posed to raise funds for a couch in the local hospital and to date they have raised over 3 million pounds for Leukaemia Research in the U.K. Their story led to the making of the 2003 hit movie Calendar Girls and a stage version in 2008. It is the most successful play ever to tour the UK. Quirky, poignant and funny, the play comprises a cast of fourteen and boasts an unashamed feel-good factor with a few tears and lots of laughter. In line with the theme of the play, Claremont Dramatic Society and Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society will donate a percentage of the ticket sales to the Sunflower Fund, whose aim it is to educate, recruit donors and raise funds to build and sustain an effective SA Bone Marrow Registry.
