Car Accident Claims the Lives of Two Young People

Two young people died in a car crash on the R102 near Faure on Sunday.

A 17-year-old girl and a man in his early twenties were found dead on arrival at the scene.
It is suspected the vehicle they were travelling in had overturned.

Three other occupants of the vehicle, including a 17-year-old boy were injured.

“A 17-year-old boy was found approximately 20 metres away in a serious condition. He was taken by ER24’s ambulance to Tygerberg Hospital. Another male was taken to Helderberg Hospital in a moderate condition,” said ER24’s Tristan Wadely.

The accident came at a time when Western Cape authorities had expressed their concern at the number of young people who had died on the province’s roads.

At least nine learners were killed in car crashes between mid-November and the end of the school year last week.
