Four Woman Jump Off Moving Train in Somerset West

Four Woman traveling on a train jumped off a train to escape two robbers in Somerset West, Western Cape police said on Friday.

Constable Suzan Jantjies said the robbers threatened them with a beer bottle on the train they boarded at Firgrove railway station at 7.30pm on Thursday.

The robbers ordered them to hand over their belongings, she said.

However, the women jumped off the train when it started moving. The robbers also jumped off the train and fled on foot.

Jantjies said all four of the women, who were aged between 20 and 28, were injured and were taken to the Helderberg hospital.

The robbers had since been arrested. -- Sapa
