Somerset West Police Woman Arrested For Murder

A policewoman was arrested after a woman was shot dead and a man injured in police quarters in Somerset West, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut said the off duty officer entered the room of the male constable, who she knew, late on Wednesday night.

After an argument, she allegedly shot him and a woman who was with him.

The 33-year-old man was shot in his stomach and he survived, but the 26-year-old woman was shot in the chest died on the scene.

"The victim's 3-year-old child, who was also in the room, survived the ordeal unharmed."

The 27-year-old officer was arrested and faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

She will appear in the Somerset West Magistrate's Court soon.
