Police probe British tourist’s fall

Gordon’s Bay police on Thursday said an inquest docket has been opened following the death of British tourist. Anil Anthony Woodcock fell 3.5 metres to his death while visiting a double story house in the Helderberg on Tuesday evening. The 50-year-old man had been scheduled to return to the UK on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Gert van der Merwe said he suffered fatal head and spinal injuries in his fall.
“We are busy with the inquest. According to witnesses the deceased had heart problems. It was quite steep steps he had to walk up [and they] saw that he had lost his balance. He fell over the low wall and hit his head on a pot plant,” he added.
